"Anmol Tshan " screened in USA


"Anmol Tshan ", a nepali film from Sikkim and the winner in three categories at Prag Cine Award 2015 has been successfully screened at three different places of United States of America viz Baltimore, Atlanta & Los California in this week. Film was Produced by Kishor Dungmali Rai of Majhitar & acted by Sneha Rai of Majhitar & Shalom Kabo. The film has received good reviews and appreciation. Well known actor of Sikkim Timothy Rai acting performance was well appreciated by the viewers of Atlanta.

SEMINAR ON "THE STATUS OF TAMANG LANGUAGE" HELD


2 days of Seminar on "THE STATUS OF TAMANG LANGUAGE" in India at Phunsong Sang Dang Takteling Tamang Monastery Conference Hall, Kalimpong-Darjeeling District was successfully concluded.

Organized under the banner of Tamang Development & Cultural Board, Government of West Bengal, and coordinated by Tamang Language & Sanskritik Conservation Samiti. Merabong-Chiyabari -Darjeeling . The Tamang language-based papers were presented by different literary figures of the Tamang communities from the states of Meghalaya, Sikkim, Assam & West Bengal. was the added valuable inputs in this program. A panel of discussions took place during these 2 days on improvement, awareness of the languages among the Tamang communities who are still not able to speak their own language. Sikkim State Awardee & a member of Sikkim Tamang Youth Society Mr. Yougan Tamang delivered his speech on his thesis work on the Tamang community.

On the second day of the seminar All India Tamang Literary Society (AITLS) was formed and under the Coordinator -ship of Shri S.K. Kalden of Kalimpong 6 members were appointed for this society which includes  Shri Norbu Tamang from Namchi, South Sikkim, Shri Kumar Yonzon from Pakyong, East Sikkim, Shri Pratap Bal from Darjeeling, Shri Pradeep Blone from Kalchini, Dooars along with Media Coordinators Shri Suresh K. Lama from Majhitar, East Sikkim who is also the Founder-President of Sikkim Tamang Youth Society and Shri Mahesh Moktan of Kalimpong.

2 days of Seminar was attended by Shri Sanjay Moktan, Chairman of Tamang Development & Cultural Board (TDCB) Government of West Bengal as a Chief Guest and attended by different personalities like Shri D.B. Bomjon, Shri S.T. Lama, Dr. G.S. Yonzon, Dr. Jas Yonzon, Shri K.B. Pakrin, Shri Santa Bdr. Ghising, Shri H.K. Kalden. Shri Suresh Kumar Lama , Shri Kumar Yonzon, Shri Pema Lama , Shri S.D. Lama,  Shri Norbu Tamang, Sikkim State Awardee Shri Yougan Tamang among others.

"10 Minutes to Earth" celebrated at Ralang

"10 Minutes to Earth" Sikkim Democratic Front party flagship program was observed at Ralang , East Sikkim under West Pendam Constituency . SDF CLC President Om Adhikari, Vice Convener East Ambika Pokhrel, Block Level President West Pendam Harka Subba , CEC Hem Kumar Gurung, Pritam Dhamala, Dilip Thapa and all the WLC members of the area were present in the occasion. 70 plants which includes Nimpatta, Lampathey , Harra barra , amala , chewri , golmor , bottle brush, bagan belli and other herbal plant were planted in the empty length of Ralang area. CLC President Om Adhikari had given short abstract on this environmental based day which was conceptualized by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Pawan Kumar Chamling.

"Take That" against social discrimination, voices Sikkim's Thups

Thupten Wangchuk Bhutia better known as "thups" from the well-known hip hop - rap duo "Urban Inc." from Gangtok has released a new official music video "Take That"  from his 2nd album "Dream High". 

Dream high album was released in September 2014. The new video was released on 18th June 2015. The video was directed by Popolaz production and the video was shot in Kolkota.
The new video is about ‘Thups’ voice against racism and racial discrimination. In his own words, Thups says, in an era where it was thought that racism and racial discrimination were on the decline, it is still very much alive. 

He states that people of northeast India are racially discriminated against outside our northeast state of India for their colour, race, what we eat, what we do and what we wear, etc.

The song of the video is dedicated to the people of northeast India along with the rest of India where such social evils still survive. "Stop discriminating us, says Thups.

SMC and student guardian carry out school sanitation drive


SINGTAM, JUNE 3: Newly formed members of the School Managing Committee along with students’ guardians of Sakyong Chisopani JHS carried a day-long cleanliness drive in and around Sakyong Chisopani JHS premises. The team was led by Montika Gurung, President SMC, Sakyong Chisopani JHS, and also attended by the school staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Montika Gurung had said, the cleanliness around the school premises is not limited to the school authority, we as an SMC, guardians, and local villagers should come forward and make our contributions too. We are happy with the day-to-day progress of the school and we shall always be there for the betterment of the school, added Gurung.

We teach our children about cleanliness at home and we feel the school is the second home of our children, so we are here to spread the message of a clean and better environment, echoed the guardians and the local villagers. The cleanliness drive was also done in view of the approaching Environment day.
