SINGTAM: The much talked Sikkim Dance Ka Maha Mukabla started off this morning at Gorkha Dharamsala, Singtam. The three day audition event started from today with the audition of junior category solo dance. The senior category features the group dances on June 11th while the next day is kept as reserved day for the left out solo and group dance participants.
The first day of the audition saw 21 contestants from different places of Sikkim presenting their individual skills in Hindi, Nepali and English numbers in front of two judges. The Singtam crowds came in large number to support the performers. They clapped and encouraged every performance. The day saw 13 contestants being selected by Bikash Darnal, choreographer from Kalimpong and Anu Pradhan, former Miss Sinolchu and choreographer, the two judges of the first day event.
Kamlesh Agarwal was the Chief Guest of the first day with the three members of Singtam Nagar Panchayats Meena Kumari Chettri, Bishnu Maya Sherpa and Anita Tamang as special guest of honour. Also present on the occasion were distinguished guest that included Mohan Pradhan Neeraj, Sundar Rai, Laki Doma, Palden Tamang, Praja Bhadhur Pradhan (Film personality), Praveen Pradhan (President Sangharsh NGO), Prakash Sundas (singer from Gangtok), Sonam Waiba (musician from Gangtok) and members of Social Organisation of Singtam. The young duo of Monica Pandey and Mukesh was the two host of the day that was equally cheered by the crowds.
Speaking on the occasion Bisnu Suman, Director of New Heaven Dance Institute, the person behind the concept of the entire show said that he is happy with the progress, despite coming up with an event in short time the enthusiastic participants came from far places of Okharay and others. This is an encouraging sign as far as love and dedication for the art of dance is shown, Suman added.
